The ALdia VLE offers a MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) based on the course contents to developed in the context of WP3. The VLE is designed according to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, so that its open teaching material is accessible to both disabled students and education professionals.

The VLE implements the ALdia pedagogy, based upon collaborative learning approaches. To this purpose, the ALdia VLE makes use of the resources that the Moodle Platform offers for collaborative learning, such as Discussions Forums, Chats, Wiki and Workshops. Trainees have access to a ‘practice area’ in the ALdia MOOC where they are able to share their accessible learning designs.

Moreover, a Virtual Community is developed where users can meet, exchange experiences, and participate in group activities. The ALdia Virtual Community brings together education professionals from all education levels, including special needs education, disabled students and their families/carers, NGOs and communities, policy-makers and the general public. Also, it is open for researchers that wish to promote their results. The users are able to interact with each other through avatars.

Finally, the ALdia VLE provides access to an organized collection of all currently available assistive technology freeware tools.

The ALdia VLE is available in English, Italian, Greek and Spanish and is easily extendable to more languages.
